The Engineering Manager oversees the development of innovative laser products using DPSS Lasers, laser diodes, SLEDs, VCSELs, Tapered Amplifier, and similar devices.

Engineering Manager will help guide the company’s technical path. He should be a thought leader who actively watches the photonics market and presents ideas for products. He should be constantly vigilant for new electronic, optical or mechanical components that reduce cost, improve performance, reduce manufacturing time or expand the capability of PTI’s products.

Engineering Manager shall be a working member of the technical staff. He shall undertake his own design work and share in the department’s new product introduction quota. He may be asked to contribute to any design up to and including Electronics Design, Mechanical Design, Thermal Management, Data Acquisition, signal processing, etc.

The Engineering Manager supports the sales department as the point of contact for all technical questions. These questions are often presented by customers. Occasional involvement directly with customers is expected.

This position manages to corporate goals that include the introduction of 10 new products a year, exceed $250,000 revenues in non-recurring engineering fees, aligning engineering projects with key sales goals.

Occasional travel may be required. Trips to tradeshows, customer sites, etc. should be expected. Trips will be approximately 5 to 10 per year.

Engineering Manager will assure compliance with PTI’s ISO 9000 engineering policies. He will conduct formal design reviews, and other ISO required meetings. He will refine the ISO policies and procedures as necessary and lead any change management processes.

Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers and make sure projects are progressing according to schedule. He will communicate with fellow management changes to schedules and other pertinent information. On a daily basis, he will be responsible for cost estimating and bidding projects in a time sensitive manner. Engineering Manager will be responsible for making sure designs uphold PTI quality standards, specifications, and specific national/international standards.
