The Sales Manager owns all sales and customer service processes within the company. He/She is well versed in laser technology including the following areas: DPSS Lasers, laser diodes, SLEDs, VCSELs, Tapered Amplifier, and similar devices.  Manager should have a firm technical understanding of how these technologies are used by customers.  

The manager oversees the daily sales and customer service functions of the sales department. He/She mentors, develops and trains his/her sales people. He/She performs visits to current and prospective customers together with individual sales people as needed. 

Sales Manager shall be a working member of the sales staff. He/She should serve several key accounts (those over $100,000). They will be responsible for developing accounts that need custom laser products (that is products that do not exist in PTI’s normal offerings). 

The Sales Manager supports PTI’s ISO design process by evaluating new business opportunities (reviewing the product proposal forms). By using this and other methods, the Sales Manager helps determine the future course of the company (technical path, areas of specialization, market focus). As part of launching new products, the sales manager shall attend specific product launch meetings (Final Design Reviews) and support multiple (12+) product launches per year. 

On a daily basis, he will be responsible for some cost estimating and bidding activities. Individual will set price points for new and existing products based on sound research.  These activities surround sales leads, so they are handled in a time sensitive manner. 

In conjunction with Product Line Managers and Marketing Managers, the Sales Manager will help develop strong written Value Propositions and Unique Selling Positions for all products. 

Occasional travel may be required. Trips to tradeshows and customer sites should be expected. At a minimum, a quarterly visit to the factory is required. 

Sales manager will set strong strategic direction for his department and his people. This strategic direction will align strongly with the company’s annual corporate goals. He/She will have input into the company’s annual goals.
